Does this check VIES or HMRC?
No. It only applies each country's public checksum rules to random bodies. It never calls VIES, Sirene, AEAT, HMRC, or API Entreprise.
Can a generated VAT match a real company?
Yes, by coincidence. Checksum-valid means structurally valid, not guaranteed unregistered. Use only for fixtures and QA.
Why an invalid checksum toggle?
To confirm your app rejects bad tax IDs, not only accepts good ones — same idea as test IBAN or card generators.
I searched for a fake VAT generator. Is this it?
If you need checksum-valid dummy VAT strings for development and fixtures, yes. If you need live registration lookup, this tool will not do that.
