Checksums, fixtures, and what this tool is not
Does this verify products with GS1 or Open Food Facts?
No. It only mints checksum-valid dummy strings in your browser. It never calls Verified by GS1, GEPIR, Open Food Facts, or Google Books.
Can a generated UPC or ISBN match a real product or book?
UPC-A (012345) and ISBN-13 (978/979) may coincide with live items. EAN in prefix 952 should not identify real trade items per GS1. Checksum-valid is not guaranteed unregistered.
Why an invalid checksum toggle?
To confirm your validator rejects bad GTINs, not only accepts good ones — same idea as test VAT, IBAN, or card generators.
I searched for a fake EAN or fake barcode number. Is this it?
If you need dummy product-ID strings for development and fixtures, yes. If you need a barcode image or a registry lookup, this tool will not do that.
